Method of investigation

7. FAWC set up group to review the available evidence and take views, in writing and directly, from interested organisations. The letter requesting views, together with a list of those who submitted comments and evidence, is provided at Appendix C. We are most grateful to all who took time to participate in this exercise. We do not quote directly from any submissions in this report since we undertook to keep the content confidential to FAWC. However, we make reference to points made in submissions throughout our advice.

8. At an early stage of the review, the group held discussions with those at the Roslin Institute who had undertaken the work which had produced Dolly. A summary of the background and techniques used at Roslin is at Appendix D. We are most grateful to the Institute for co-operation in providing us with access to its information.

9. At the end of the review, the group presented its findings and recommendations to the full Council of FAWC for detailed discussion and refinement. This report therefore represents the advice and views of the full Council of FAWC. A glossary of the technical terms referred to in this report is given at Appendix E.
