Whilst there is a potential to cause considerable stress to broiler breeders during catching and transport, their high value tends to ensure the breeding companies take great care to plan and control the movement of birds from rearing to laying accommodation. By contrast, this incentive is less with birds at the end-of-lay and particular attention should be paid to ensure that no reduction in standards is allowed.
