133. The Council would like to emphasise that awareness of the provisions of the Welfare Code is essential for all those in charge of livestock. This is a legal requirement under the welfare of Livestock Regulations 1994.
134. Many of the large turkey producers run in-house training schemes for their employees. We hope that the industry will ensure that all training is validated by encouraging trainees to enter schemes such as the National or Scottish Vocational Qualifications. This should help to maintain a high standard of stockmanship within the turkey industry.
